If you are planning a visit to Eastern Kentucky, just a short way off the beaten path you'll discover historic Hindman, Kentucky. In addition to Hindman Settlement School, Hindman offers the Appalachian Artisan Center and Café, Working Artisans, the Kentucky School of Craft and the Marie Stewart Museum & Crafts Shop. Hindman is also home to the annual Gingerbread Festival which takes place in September.
Knott County, known as the "Elk Capitol of the East," also has lots to offer, including: Elk tours and an elk viewing station near Sutton Memorial Park; Carr Creek Lake State Park; Horse Back Riding Trails; ATV/Dirt Bike Riding Trails; an ATV Safety Training Center; a Swimming Pool & Skate Park; the Knott County Sportsplex and Alice Lloyd College.
