Writers Workshop Fees & Housing

The cost for attending the Appalachian Writers workshop is $600 ($300 tuition; $300 room and board).

Campus housing consists of dormitory and cottage-style housing. There are no single occupancy rooms. Two, and on very rare occasions, three people will share a room. Because most housing is on hillsides, please indicate if you are unable to walk up steep inclines. All buildings are smoke-free and air conditioned. No pets, firearms, drugs or alcohol are permitted. Participants must furnish their own towels and washclothes.

For those making their own off-campus housing arrangements, tuition is $300 and meals may be purchased at the Settlement School dining hall: Breakfast $8.00, Lunch $8.00 and Dinner $10.00.

Quiltmaker Inn Housing

The Inn, located in downtown Hindman, is a three-minute walk from campus. It has a limited number of rooms with basic furnishings: one double bed, TV and A/C. The Inn is not handicap accessible.

Cost for a private room with private bath is $700 (1 person) and $1,300 (2 people), including tuition and meals.

A private room with shared bath (shared with an adjoining room) is $650 (1 person) and $1,250 (2 people), including tuition and meals.

Guests will need to furnish their own towels and washcloths.
