Uncle Sol’s Legacy Club
The story is told of Uncle Solomon Everidge walking barefoot from Hindman to Hazard in 1899 to ask the Settlement School’s founders to establish a school in Hindman for his “grands and greats.”

Membership in Uncle Sol’s Legacy Club is granted to living individuals who have included Hindman Settlement School in their will and/or have established life-income agreements with the Settlement School. Application to the club requires a signed statement indicating general provisions for planned giving, however, gifts do not have to be irrevocable. Legacy Club members are asked to inform the Settlement of their eligibility. Donors who met the criteria by 2008 are considered Founding Members.
