Hindman Settlement School took top honors for raising $6,385 in the Knott County Relay for Life event held on May 29th in Hindman. The annual fundraiser supports finding a cure for cancer and raises community awareness.
Teams adopt themes and set up camp at the high school track. Each team attempts to maintain at least one walker on the track for the entire 12-hour period (from Friday evening through dawn on Saturday morning).
The Settlement School also received recognition for raising the most per capita (based on team size) and for the top individual fundraiser: Rebecca Ware. The Settlement also received the Team Spirit Award.
The Knott County event raised a total of $31,055.37. Eight teams participated with six staying for the entire event.
