For more than a century, musicians from all walks of life have gathered on the Settlement’s porches to pick and play the songs of this region. The McLain Family Pickin‘ Porch, part of the capital campaign that aims to renew the historic, yet aging, facilities on campus will provide a space for musicians, singers, storytellers, and friends to gather and hear the melodies ‘from another time and place.’
By becoming a member of the Pickin’ Porch Players, you can support the development of this gathering place and ensure the institution’s ability to cultivate the next generation of Appalachian musicians while leaving a legacy on this historic campus and receiving exclusive recognition opportunities!
Benefits & Recognition
In addition to providing the critical financial support to construct the McLain Family Pickin’ Porch at the forthcoming May Stone Gathering Place, individuals, dependent upon selected level, receive name recognition on the porch’s spindles, the wind chimes to be placed in the porch’s rafters, or rocking chairs designed for pickin.’ In addition, members will receive a commemorative Hindman pick and other exclusive artisan items.
Several membership levels are available and can be fulfilled with convenient, affordable quarterly or monthly installments.
