Session Description

In this workshop poets will begin the work to develop an existing group of poems into a unified collection, be that a chapbook or chapter or “skeleton” of a larger manuscript. Exercises and workshop will be geared toward bringing poems into a strong relationship with each to create a cohesive whole, as well as strengthening existing individual poems and generating new ones. A 15-20 poem manuscript is our final project. This workshop is a master class and is limited to five students.

Author Bio

Pauletta Hansel is author of seven poetry collections, including Coal Town Photographand Palindrome, winner of the 2017 Weatherford Award. Her writing has been featured in journals including RattleAppalachian Heritage and Still: The Journal, and on The Writer’s Almanac, American Life in Poetry and Verse Daily. Cincinnati’s first Poet Laureate, Pauletta is artist in residence at Thomas More University, managing editor of Pine Moun­tain Sand & Gravel and leads community writing workshops and retreats.
